Tutorials/Info/Help

Many of the songs and mixes featured on the site can be heard in a variety of formats and ways. Please check the bottom of each post page for more information. Streamed songs are usually of 256 kbit/s bit rate or more. Whenever possible, songs will be played at the highest bit rate available. Mixes, because of their size, are 128 kbit/s streamed, and the highest bit rate possible for downloading. See the chart below for comparison, but generally speaking, the higher the bit rate, the better the sound.

Audio Bitrates (MP3)

32 kbit/s – MW (AM) quality.
96 kbit/s – FM quality.
128–160 kbit/s – Standard Bit rate quality.
224–320 kbit/s – Virtually indistinguishable to CD quality.

The high quality download versions of the mixes will be provided by off site file hosts that usually require you wait a period of time before downloading the file. Once saved, you will need WinZIP or a comparable program to extract the mix in .mp3 format. From there, you can add the mix to your mp3/audio player or burn it using Windows Media Player, iTunes, or a comparable program.
