Clubbin’ in the 80’s

As I’ve said before, I’m a 70’s baby and I love 80’s music.  This mix features my favorite era in R&B.  While I was a 10 year old eating my Mr. T cereal and watching Miami Vice on Friday nights; my 20 year old Sister was hitting DC clubs and dancing to some of the songs featured on this mix.  While I was never old enough to club in the 80’s myself, I lived vicariously through my big Sister.  She’d show me the latest dances and I’d watch and think, “I just can’t wait to be grown.”  I knew what music was hot by the albums and cassettes my sister would buy.    Those albums are now a major part of my record collection today and those memories are the inspiration behind Clubbin’ in the 80’s.

This mix is my thank you to all of you in the DJ BeTray family.  Thank you for your support as we approach my 1 year anniversary of DJ BeTray.com.  Please enjoy this mix and bump it at your next party! Love!

Something New (Spring 2011)

Every once in a while, a lot of good music drops at one time.  It doesn’t happen often enough, but when it does, I am moved to mix it!

That’s the concept behind Something New (Spring 2011).  We have some heavy hitters who have recently released some fantastic albums and more are on the way in coming weeks.  Beyonce is back and killing it with her new single, Who Run the World (Girls)Jill Scott is refreshed and rejuvenated with a new label and new album.  Musiq is hotter than ever and teaming up with Swizz Beatz on his new single.  Bilal, one of my favorites, has some great new remixes from his recent album.  And the queen of Hip-hop and R&B, Mary J. Blige is doing it to death with Looking for Someone to Love Me; whenever Mary and Diddy collaborate, it’s magic.  I hope you will enjoy this mix of new music that features all of these artists and more.  Could it be… is R&B on the comeback?  If so, it’s going to be a great summer!

I recently DJ’d a college homecoming alumni party; this is a recording of the mix from that night.  This mix has a little something for everyone.  It starts off with some old school R&B then moves into old school hip hop on into some of today’s hits ending with some go-go classics.  Some of the featured artists include Alicia Myers, The Time, Vanity6, Michael Jackson, Foster Sylvers, Tribe Called Quest, Salt-n- Pepa, Biggie, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Rare Essence and much, much more.  There are a lot of surprises on this ADULT mix.  Please enjoy and download for your own party!!
